In these desperate hours
the body knows before the mind
what dangers wait for us to find
the beast does not debate or plead
it does not ask what others need
it does not wonder if it’s fair
but we are more than what we must endure
we are the wounded and the healed
the wild, the gentle, the unrevealed
and this is no place to lose our wings
so let us become like falling stars
drifting in a forbidding sky
heading for endless horizons
