…returns here

The moon spills its silver
reflecting both darkness and light
flowers of ink are blooming
alone here in this endless night
you once stood hand in hand with me
in this place that we always thought would be ours
now as I stand here in the deafening silence
I hear a quiet sighing, drifting upon the wind
I think of all our lost dreams that will never be found
my heart returns here, for only here can I still find you
in this place, where sometimes, only the silence is your answer
and I am drowning in the sweet scent of blossoms
losing myself over and over in the gentle waves of my sorrow
night after night, dream after dream, some dreams never end
and I know this now, they linger, they return
they live in the shadows of my memories, still clinging like fire
and when I rest my head, sleep comes so slowly
until shrouded in the softness of night
my gentle dreams find you
