After you are gone, in the empty hours
falling shrouds of winter, drape around my heart
vines of loneliness wind around me
as the moon’s pale face rises in black branches
illuminating the thorns of your betrayal
echoes of our song fade gently into the night
carried away on sorrowful winds
that serenade me as I weep
