I once begged the stars to bring you to me
I ached to hold you in the calm of dusk
but over and over I awakened
in the slow rising dawn
only to find you gone
no sorry, no embrace
you just faded in silence
and in your place, just empty space
love and desire are often hand in hand
but like the seasons, you endlessly shifted
and when winter returned
I finally heard the bell toll
and the rustling of the pages
we were never meant to write
and like the last ray of sun
I vanished into the night
sorry, not sorry
