I watch the bright lonely moon
exiled in the darkened sky
slowly drifting alone
cloaked in her silken veils
she is a sorrowful, haunted visage
the night’s sentinel
her sacrifice a burden
that only she can bear
and still she spills her precious silver
upon both land and sea
and I, drowning in my own sorrow
empathise with her loneliness
and winter fills my heart
