…of things to come
Through the mirrors of time
I see images of you from long ago
now fading imperceptibly
into one another
there are brief moments of light
but it is just the beginning
and the shadow of things to come
everything I touch is now so far away
yet closer than that
in this unnerving silence
the joy of love and the pain of loss
are blended in painful perfection
everything renders wrong
no gilded filigree
just the dark tendrils of all that we lost
winding out into the endless night

I enjoy your poetry, so I hope you don’t mind a suggestion. After I write a poem, I go back and cut all the words I don’t need. For example,
“Through mirrors of time
I see images of you
from long ago
fading imperceptibly
into one another.”
It’s just a thought.

I think my response to your last comment applies here too? Maybe you have not read it? In any case, I think all poets have their own way of crafting their work in ways that look and sound and feel the way they want them to. It’s not that I never write minimalist poetry, I enjoy Haiku for example, but my freestyle poetry is just that (wild and free!). This is what makes the poetry community so diverse and full of life for me!

It had been a few days since I last checked in, so no, I hadn’t read it yet. Sorry.
