My Heart is Broken

…over and over

As another day passes
doubts are the doorways
the enemies are always outside
tomorrow the descent towards darkness
will have already begun
when the night winds blow
bridging sky and soil
and as rains fall hard
from the sobbing twilight
there will be only the remains
of a world once bright
with the hope of spring
the seeds of the seasons of my heart
will be scattered into the void
until the wild weeds grow
the bittersweet taste of emptiness
from the withered vine
a new sadness arising
as night slowly intrudes
with a touch of chill
although my heart
can no longer remember
my love neither sleeps nor slumbers
even when winter settles stone still
as long as the winds shall pass
I will still hear you, subtle sorcery
the spell too easily cast
and my heart is broken
over and over
