…on my tongue

Time is slowly drifting by
as a boat on the relentless tide
your voice is silent tonight
yet your essence still clings to me
I reach out for you my love
in my bed full of shadows
where dreams flow like rivers
or blood rushing through my veins
trapped, with nowhere to go
restlessly searching
through endless fathoms of night
these thoughts, they flow like silk
I feel my memories drifting
then falling softly
like the last leaves, into the darkness
coldly slipping through my fingers
I cannot catch them as they fall away
and again, it begins
the inevitable descent towards darkness
where the gentle murmurs
of these black waters
carry the echoes of your whispers
and my heart is once more overfull
as the restless wind and wheeling shadows
surround me again, sweeping me away
still breathing you in my love
still tasting you on my tongue
