…and eternally free

Just as my fate is not my own
a leaf in the autumn wind drifts slowly towards the ground
as I drift in the oceanic depths of sorrow
together we are forever untethered
the dying leaf and I, at the mercy of the tides
wrapped in the embrace of the night
no anchor to keep me moored, no compass to mark my way
in this vast sea of despair everything stays the same
aimlessly wandering through endless starry nights
only my memories for company
my heart is heavy with loss, nothing to hold me here
my tomorrows fade into yesterdays
aimlessly drifting, nothing to see nothing to do
just soft breezes and endless waves of blue
no-one is waiting for me
lost in my illusions, the day departs
the night swallows me whole
my mirror will not reflect
now even my own face is just a distant memory
my dreams unspoken, can never be fulfilled
and I see them carried upon the winds of change
and the sea whispers to me
find your own compass, follow your own light
and be forever lost and eternally free
