Lost in a world devoid of light
languishing in my darkness
my battle worn armour a tightly laced prison
hiding the scars upon my skin
deep fissures barely perceptible
keeping their secrets within
owing nothing to cognition the rising sun reveals to me
fine cracks bleeding my pain
shining a light on the lies, the lies I told myself
and the things I left unspoken
the shadow of a butterfly alights upon my skin
weightless and trembling
as my heart awakens, slow slow beats
sudden recollections rendered fragile
I break wide open, beautifully broken
