…and the breaking of the ties that bind
In the distant depths of the darkest of dreams
I wander aimlessly with you
through the weightless hours and the weeping waves
of the softly whispered nocturnes, of seemingly endless night
but in the returning in the aching of the dawn
and the breaking of the day
my brittle hopes and my battered heart
are also bruised and broken
as always, I awaken alone, already missing you
and I still hear your voice, soft, like music
in the voice of the wind that trails her fingers ever gently
across the shivering back of the aching, early morn
the weeping waves of the distant whispers of the fleeing night
now waves of sorrow singing softly upon the breeze
the melodies of memories that are drifting far away from me
each new day I find that the awakening takes you further away
and in the swirling mists that now gently drift between you and I
I can hear the distant echoes of the sounds of desolation
the quiet unravelling of time
and the breaking of the ties that bind
