Some nights I awaken
with your shadow still clinging to me
clad in ghostly white
your whispers are like the tides
erasing nothing, but redrawing
the shorelines of my grief
and I am the distant moon
waxing and waning
forever haunted
by what we never became
the paths I might have taken
for the past never dies
and in my dreams
I am still drowning in your eyes
