…like crumbling leaves

Fragile windows house of glass
painted in strokes both tender and harsh
coloured in darkness instead of light
no in-betweens, everything or nothing
shadows of lies already falling on yet unbroken panes
fading to black, a magician’s trick
you were here and then suddenly you were gone
nothing there to show that you were ever here
you were a master of deception
lies after lies, devastatingly creative
everything to gain, nothing to lose
my heart caught in an endless loop
I love you, I love you not
the cracks beneath my feet
slowly becoming deep oceans
where my tears fill them to overflowing
and after all is done only the broken glass alone, remains
shattered shards, hearts broken like crumbling leaves
holding fast to empty trees
extinction is calling
