Gentle rain falls within my heart
your silence is unexplained
like an old scar that continues to ache
and the hours pass slowly
the night is restless, a quivering dark ocean
sprinkled with fallen jewels
a pale moon, silver and distant
drifts slowly through shredded clouds
I think of you, in the loneliness of the dark
trying to sugarcoat my new reality
and I linger here for much longer than I should
for this is where my ghosts
relentlessly haunt me
bringing fragments of you, back to me
gently carrying me
through the ever empty hours

Susi is putting together her anthology Volume #2 and looking for those that write excellent micropoetry. I immediately thought of you. Happy Halloween!
