My eyes behold a familiar scene
that only I can ever see
the sea is turquoise and slowly shifting
the drifting scent of roses and salt
falls gently upon me, light as a feather
like shadows from unseen trees
your dark eyes
have taken the stars away from me
but as the last flames
wither and die in the shifting wind
your quiet whispers still echo
in the lingering shadows
now the shadows of night cover my face
and circle my aching soul
but in my sight I have a place
where reality is soft and a warm wind
circles under a gentle moon
as shimmering shafts of light
caress the fragrant shores
I have my love by my side and in my heart
and life is like a butterfly
floating weightless
from one blossom to another
