…played no part

Where once a garden of longing grew untamed
all that remains, are the ashes from the long extinguished fire
for a long while we both believed in forever
and we promised to always hear, the words we did not say
once we spoke of restless ghosts and a blending of souls
the spark was ours, just for a moment in time
each of us steadied, by the touch of a hand
and in each other we both found our place
and there, we discovered ourselves
had the years played no part
we would have always held each other close
but we were lost from each other, where our roads divided
and from then on, we have forever searched
for beginnings, and for endings
like each droplet to an ocean returns
so often we have gazed across the sea
calling to each other in the silence of eternity
whispering secrets, that only we could ever know
we sensed each other in the breezes of the night
and walked in dreams together
thinking, always thinking, of the other
your life, unknown to me, finds an echo in my soul
and our two, desperate, longing hearts
take flight ,towards that to which we have always belonged
until we tumble through the mirror, once again
and our restless love, at last will find its peace
