I have turned away
from your lascivious hunger
seeking the light, never to return to the night
your hands full of hubris, your heart black as ink
you carved my name
upon the dark pages of your empty soul
your quill marked my skin
as barren branches mark the sky
untruths unveiled, I have seen your sins
forever sealing my fate
my scars now bleeding , never healing
and regret calls hollow from the shadows

I wonder if trees resent having our names carved into them. I know I wouldn’t want to wake up and learn my friends had tattooed something on my arm.
