The Depths

…of my darkness

If I was a silhouette or a shadow
that the day left behind
I would be so dark that I could hide
and vanish in the edges
of the slender shafts of light as they fade softly away
I would wrap myself in the falling night
slip under your skin, ethereal and ghostly
our souls intertwined within
murmuring words, familiar yet unspoken
into the ethers that circle you
and the winding currents of memory
I would fly like a bird, just a shadow against the sky
I would swim beneath the mirrors of your eyes
unseen and shifting like an ocean in your soul
my song calling to you from the depths of my darkness
