…are not all I ever lost

In silent passage over rivers of night
somewhere between the sunset and the gathering shadows
I hear my heartbeat in the rain
there is a whispering at the door, and eternity falls in a single drop
a cascade of dreams flow over me
and I am slowly drowning in the shifting tides of longing
intense blue skies, just out of reach
both stones and rivers, caressed by the gentle breeze
like a beautiful thirst you awaken my desires
but deceived by the light, when no dreams come
and your voice does not whisper
I am left here alone with my thoughts and the stillness of reflection
now my heart is a deep cold lake and love has abandoned me
I have been forgotten, left behind, overlooked, in the midst of things
the silk curtains are softly falling
and I see that you, are not all I ever lost
