You Have Become

…my haunting

Your absence weighs heavy on me
a shadow that falls, upon the light
a silence that screams, in wide open space
the darkness devours everything
everything that I ever held close to me
and like the moon, it has its’ tides that ebb and flow
in relentless regularity
under its’ pull the waves rise and the waves fall
in their eternal rhythm
just as you and I, have always been tethered
in oceans of silence
our unseen story only written in the shadows of our dreams
where we too, have our own tides
and just as the moon and the sea, we are forever intertwined
your eyes were always the ocean in which I drowned
but the wind whispers quietly to me
of endings, of healing, dark whispers of reality, and truth
I am left here, standing in the ruins
a moment of clarity, holding the truth
that I cannot un-know, a truth, that I should have expected
and this is where it begins again
the unravelling, the impossible illusions
the backward pull of memories’ tides
like the journey of an eclipse that lasts longer than the night
and now I know, in my heart and soul
that you have become my haunting
