Fading

…to silhouette

In the mirror my shadow and I, are aching to break free
for emptiness circles us both
our distorted reflections, the reality, the gravity of a half-lived life
we ache to be lazily drifting in the infinite emptiness
unseen and untouched, shifting languid in a warm wind
exchanging darkness for light and light for darkness
desperately searching for something intangible
something that that stirs in the depths of the soul
we are looking deep into each other’s eyes, my shadow and I
searching for meaning in the silent void
our fingers tracing the lines on our face
the scars etched deeply upon our skin
the weight of our emptiness is now too much for us to bear
for all we have now are our cold reflections and the distant whispers
just slim glimmer of hope, ever close, yet ever distant
for the mirror contains us both, a reciprocal haunting
our rippled reflections are slowly fading away
as another season begins beneath the cold glass
and trapped in the mirror my shadow and I
are fading to silhouette, until we find each other again
