A sky strewn with broken clouds
petals floating, a silken cascade
twilight claims the day all too soon
just before my eyes close
I write your name
and it awakens a distant memory
a door opens in my heart
a breeze drifts in light as a feather
the candle flickers
but too slowly to be extinguished
yet I know it is all an illusion
hope turned to ashes so very long ago
but the sea of longing
stretches to the horizon
and its waves never rest
now darkness falls in absolute silence
