My dreams remain unspoken
through these long, lonely nights
there is a longing I cannot name
all is lost and covenant broken
the things of love and beauty
are now all but memories
water lapping at my feet
the broken image of the moon
on the turbulent surface
once more I am lost
loneliness stretches her wings
and covers the sun
folds them softly over me
memories haunt me
like blossoms floating in ruins
painful and lovely
fragile like glass they shatter
their wounds familiar
as I sail on a sea of pain
the waves rise and fall
black and so overwhelming
the dark bruises of love
