An Invisible Thread

…that ties me to you

Tendrils of jasmine flowers crowded closely together
flowing over themselves, lovers entwined like vines
trailing in fragrant rivers down crumbling walls
their soft, sweet scent overwhelms me
triggering a memory I just can’t quite grasp
something slowly drifting just out of my reach
circling me in the darkness
just as the ripples of a quiet ocean gently erode the sand
and in time reveals pearls that were once hidden from my view
the fragrance is silken, an invisible thread that ties me to you
the gentle breeze winds it around me
over and over in an intimate dance
and once more I stand alone in the amethyst dawn
all the colours melting to one, remembering violets
weeping skies and mossy stones and the sweet scent
of the tangles of jasmine slowly drifting
the hour evades me, as for me you are always time itself
every second, every minute pulling me back
into the soft velvet mists where I find myself again
gently drowning in the deep pools of your raven black eyes
and I feel your heart calling pulling me ever closer to your arms
