In time I finally saw it
for what it had always been
splinters of the whole
but yet something more
was always present
constant echoes
I never understood
how somehow, from nowhere
you arrived here
beyond your reflection
resplendent
with the absence of illusion
like glass flowers, it shattered
light traded places
with darkness
and in that moment
the simple pattern broke
to understand
is to be understood
and I recognised
my long-lost self in your smile
and then a glance became a gaze
