My broken heart feels your absence
and it weighs heavily upon me
there is a fragrant wind
and the sky ripples
with the last gold of the sun
stars are appearing
across the velvet night
the tide beats against the shore
the quiet weeping of the ocean
daylight lingers in the pools
bleeding away into the dark
sorrow opens her wings
folding them over me
a soft possession
my soul clings to your memory
as to a raft in a surging sea
once deeply carved
in the stones of forever
in the end we were
like burning leaves
upon a wild black wind
our untamed fires
falling slowly down to rest
becoming quiet ripples
upon an ancient lake
now there is only silence
but the ashes still tremble
in your wake
