…falling swiftly and darkly into itself

Life moves like water
falling swiftly and darkly into itself
further into the murky depths
unfathomably deep, these waters contain me
wandering dreams
floating in on the river of evening
unwept tears, the slow drift of sorrow
ripples in all directions, always in tremulous motion
spreading to the farthest shore
from the gentle shifting tides a whispering flow of night-secrets
the slow drift of foreshadowed pain
yet we, being one soul
the threads of you find me with empty hands
and seeks an answer in kind from my heart to yours
and like fragments of a broken mirror
we move together in the faceless tides of shadows
caught in the eddies of shoreless seas
