…fall away
Ignoring insistent calls from the world of emptiness
we wander poor and dispirited from wants unending
to walk through time
and through these endless starry nights
the silence between grows longer
the silence that finds you finally, alone
the clamour of wind and sky
the flames of the dying sun
a waning light sinks into the sea
and the heavens slowly weep
then drift away into eternity
the far horizon a funeral scene
once gardens and groves, pavilions and palaces
now nothing, as worlds fall away
between waves of darkness
and times’ running sands
