You and I
the ‘we’ that we used to be
is now but a distant memory
our footsteps erased
from the sands of time
the unrelenting waves
of regret and sorrow
they come, and they go
this is the ebb and flow
the fragile nature of love
there is some comfort
in the relentless rhythm
a strange sense of peace
this eternal dance
between land and sea
that for precious moments
have an aura, of familiarity
and the waves, the waves
come crashing down on me
as the tide pulls me under
and the current
sweeps me away
