…a part of the dark
Night swoops down in her dark cape
a shroud of black that covers everything
cloaking secrets, hiding sins
birthing dreams, born in the shadows
as she envelops all in her embrace
the creatures of darkness
stir from their slumber
to roam where the night reigns
here my soul feels most at home
for in the light of day
I am a shadow of myself
here, I am free to be me
in the darkness, I shed my skin
casting off the chains that bind me
stepping out of the mirror
now wild and untethered
in this place where time stands still
I have no fears, no doubts
I let go of all that holds me back
becoming a part of the dark
and as dawn creeps over the horizon
I retreat back into my emptiness
waiting for night to return
and set me free once more
