This Familiar Pain

…now blooming again

A fragile rose falling apart
in darkening winds
fading with the shadows
a distant bell rings
across blackened skies
ancient hymns drifting

a final goodbye
a silence that binds
candlelight trembles
a weeping moon
my broken heart
birds upon the wing

a hollow reflection
framed by darkness
nowhere to hide
a ghostly touch
this familiar pain
now blooming again

a false hope
whispered promises
your ever winsome ways
