After all is forgotten
and I have already fallen apart
I find that my body still aches
and I am still swimming in the shallows
my aliferous hours escaping
in this shadowed place
the tangled pathways of my soul
filled with the fragrance of roses
and sweet magnolias
freely blooming in the dark
these lingering memories
reopen the deepest wounds
and in my heart the rain still falls
