…and the answer
In the empty space between taking that breath
and saying those words
the brevity of light and the gravity of darkness
embodied the finite emptiness
that fell between the question and the answer
in the empty space between taking that breath
and saying those words
the gravity of darkness and the brevity of light
embodied the infinite distance
that bled like a shadow between you and I
hope faded like a flame in a tidal wave of pain
hearts shattered like broken glass
still clinging to each other as the walls crumbled
and the storm breathed its last
