Hi Brenda – I think I always see poppies as a symbol of remembrance, which could be both sad and fond memories, perhaps even both at once!

You’re right — they are seen that way in the UK. In the US, the white lily is more a symbol of loss. In CA, the fields of poppies are native washes of color that lift the spirit.
