The Long Unwinding

…begins once more

The darkness
sings with rain
moonlight pools
in liquid silver
shadows

a rending of silk
the threads of longing
a painful song
and the long unwinding
begins once more

the look in your eyes
I am lost in it
I surrender
and think not why
relentless blackness
flowing in

memories whisper
echoes haunt me
and the dripping night
folds me into itself

all is forsaken
what torments me
still whispers
sweet and low

and the waves still rise
in the dawning
alone again
I am still longing
for you
