A moonless night, a million stars
clouds roll over the water like a shroud
the air too heavy to breathe
all colour melts into one
a dark bell tolls
like a desperate beating heart
a heaviness thickens the air
the pounding goes on
wave after wave
In the space
between two heartbeats
is the door to eternity
surrender, the only option
time melts away like ice from winter
and only my shadow is left behind
restless and uneasy
wandering the trails
of waking dreams
