This flame that devours

In the absence of you
the clouds gather beneath me
the roaring winds are like changing tides
With every passing hour
I wish the words from your mouth
Thoughts like autumn leaves
twist into fluttering piles
or drift on alone, as I do
With the breeze I let it pass
this flame that devours
Memories like the flight
of a delicate petal
the timeless flow of water, unending
My sails unfurled to catch the breeze
the quiet kiss that has no end
You tread lightly softly as you go
and I see you again
framed by an empty window
