Loss (Hope Rises)

As the roses fade

The sudden pall of winter falls again

The shadows in her eyes

Reveal the days that have escaped her

And now his name echoes

From the silence within

Yet hope rises on her finely fashioned wings

She longs to fly

To drift higher upon the wind

She whispers the longing of her heart

Restless of wanting

Aching for what is out of reach

Longing for a glimpse of her beloved

To catch the dream that he was

To reach his distant shores

And then drifting down with the tide

To land in his eyes

From where she can see that she is beautiful

A moment in time between them

She has found a place to land

And once again, in him

She has found herself
