Autumn (A Slow Descent)

In breath after breath

We dwell

One day at a time

Each apart

Each alone

Yet always together

Amid cobwebs

And dust of the past

The sky is not as blue

As yesterday

Autumn turns down

A dark lane

Petals fall

Without a sound

Drifting down

In timeless grace

My heart seeks yours

In the distance

Like shadows

We are falling

Into emptiness

A slow descent
