Fleeting Loss (As They Softly Fall)

Sweet scented roses

With blooms

As dark as indigo

Their unfolding petals

Freely strewn

Before their flames expire

Drifting in loose

Ruffled opulence

A gentle

Fleeting loss

As they softly fall

Upon the path

Already brightly petaled

Underfoot
