My Ever Empty Arms

There was a time

When your soul met mine

In confluence we flowed together

And you enveloped me

As we surged towards the open sea

We yearned to be carried away

To tumble under endless skies

But in the vastness of the ocean

Into which we fell

In the relentless pull of the ebb and flow

We were lost to each other

And now I find myself alone

Drifting on the tide of loss

Ever searching the horizon

Not understanding

My ever empty arms
