A Gleaming Moon

With empty hands and empty heart
he sits alone with his thoughts
in quiet reflection of yesterday

Now starved for colour and light
holding only the memories
of her pale and haunting face

Dreams are dust before the wind
held within the heart of stars
her blue eyes mirrored the deepest ocean

In her mind a memory takes her back
a waltz across the boards
shadows dance about the darkened room

Flowers blossom and leaves fall
a gleaming moon upon the pond
golden hues and deep green waters

Groves in full white flower
half hidden in the mist
then silence, nothing moves

Sleep comes so slowly
the secrets of her soul
slip away in the night

The light still lingers in her eyes
there is a fragrance on the breeze
and in his dream, there is an empty garden

    1. Thank you for this, I am very touched. I generally don’t do these awards though for a number of reasons – the main one being that I really struggle to pick the number of blogs to nominate myself. In the past I have done this and found it almost impossible to choose from the many blogs I follow- all of which I enjoy for different reasons and all of which are worthy of awards for sharing themselves with all of us. I have also experienced some unpleasantness from bloggers I did not select, which made me feel awful and kind of spoilt the whole thing for me. So thank you again, it is lovely to be nominated!

        My pleasure.
Honestly, I feel the same way too. This is my first. You wouldn’t believe how long it took me to pick the blogs I finally chose. They’re all wonderful.
I don’t think I’ll be doing it again.
        Thanks.
