Untethered

Untethered

I sit alone

Shrouded in mist

Trees stand motionless

Lost in their leaves

Spilling shadows like loneliness

An ebbing tide upon a distant shore

Calls out to me

And I am untethered

As a boat rolling back to sea

Birds sweep

Strangely silent

Across a darkening sky

An impatient wind echoes

Through the corners of my soul

As the night falls swiftly

Into dark liquid pools

Pulling me gently

Into memories

Of you
