To Eternity

To Eternity

There’s a thrill of blossom

In a motionless world of white

Colours across an empty sky

Petals and snowflakes

Whirl like dancers as they fall

The beauty of sun on ice

Winter is a thick blanket

Of ivory and gold

Of jade and emerald and aquamarine

That fade away all too soon

Glittering for but a season

In harsh sunlight’s glare

How fragile a silence

Here they have all fallen

In this strange interlude of quiet

Soon to vanish into thin air

Not yet delivered

To eternity
