Eternal Shades of Winter
The sky unfolds before me
In serene quietude
In pale
Boundless beauty
Singular and silent
A vast space
Today, in mourning dress
An undivided grey
Bleak, eternal shades
Of winter
Darkened corridors of clouds
Like shadows
Fallen on the ground
Impenetrable
And cold
Like betrayal
Yet dreamlike
And somehow soft
Like a velvet sigh
Unmoved
By the whispering
Of the wind
Or the weeping
Of the rain
Distant
And drifting on
Alone
