The Night Takes Me Down

The Night Takes Me Down

I awake once more

To hear the rain

And the voice, of distant thunder

I find that once again

I have been searching

In my dreams

For you

I walk down empty hallways

Tread the well-worn paths

And then I always wonder

What brought me here

But my heart

My heart is the most worn

All these years from each other

Amidst the tangled sheets

How I need to feel your touch

Even in the silence

I am never alone

You still fill the empty spaces

I feel the night

All around me

And I feel you here

My dreams are liquid

Ever shifting

And I try to keep them

In my grasp

But the last of them

Always slips though my fingers

And the moment cascades around me

As the night

A clever seductress

Takes me down
