Mourning Silk

Mourning Silk

The birds and I

Cry into the darkness

Sorrow

Flutters blackly

Like a shadow

Spilling over me

Bleeding darkly

Across the surface

Of my soul

I am draped

In mourning silk

Which weighs heavily

Like a still fall

Of fresh snow

It clings to me

And I feel the cold

Whispering

As soft as your sigh

Over and over

On the rolling tides

Of loss
