Under Empty Skies

Under Empty Skies

There is an eerie silence

Lightning quivers

From edge to edge

A speck of dust

Floats idly free

Then hangs

Suspended

In the light

I will the night

To take my empty

Ashen dreams

My smoky apparitions

I close my eyes

Against it all

Lest they consume me

In front of me

An empty sheet

But still

The picture lingers

All that made me need

Dying

Under empty skies
