A Soft Possession

A Soft Possession

Wild violets are blooming

My heart feels your absence

And weighs heavily upon me

There is a fragrant wind

And the sky ripples

With the last gold of the sun

Stars appear across the velvet night

The tide beats against the shore

The sobbing of the ocean

Daylight lingers in the pools

Bleeding away into the darkness

Sorrow opens her wings

And folds them over me

A soft possession

And my soul clings to your memory

As to a raft

In a surging sea
