A Sad But Beautiful Song

A Sad But Beautiful Song

This hour has left me drowning

In the sea of my loneliness

The heavens wheel above

And the night whispers a sad refrain

The air is deep and green

On the shore where dark waves beat

The stars on high, they come undone

And I feel the faint rush of my blood

Feather-light, as a caress

I feel like an abandoned boat

Upon the azure deep

And I am filled with a great longing

To take that endless flight

Into the soft abyss of dreams

Like a river that hastens to flow

And like honey to my soul

To swim through your deep ocean

To the very the edges of the night

Lonely is the sound of the wind

Lonely, the sea does weep

But morning comes to cushion the fall

And lonely

Is a sad, but beautiful, song

      1. Lovely words Blair – thank you! I do write a lot of things about pain but it is a kind of muse for me – I don’t have a pain filled life (my recent surgery aside hahaha!)
